This project is a video loop that explores the energetic relationship between humanity and nature. Using Newton’s Cradle as a metaphor, the piece visualizes how one force sets something in motion that the other absorbs and returns. Sound and movement highlight a continuous exchange rather than opposition, suggesting that balance relies on reciprocity instead of dominance
Bamboleo explores the delicate exchange of energy between humanity and nature. This energy transfer is visually represented as Newton’s Cradle pendulum. A Tree Icon, and a Human Icon- nature vs humanity - swing from opposite ends of the pendulum, representing different origins with a shared momentum. The collision transfers energy, therefore what one sets in motion, the other absorbs and returns
Each impact has a distinct noise: A water droplet is echoed when nature makes contact, and as it travels an ambient sound of birds can be heard on the left. On the contrary, a loud clap is echoed when humanity makes contact, and as it travels a human chatter can be heard from the right speaker. This duality suggests that nature and humanity are held together by an invisible force
The motions repeats endlessly, because balance is the endless movement or “Bamboleo” where survival is held on reciprocity rather than dominance. Energy is never lost; it transforms, returns and continues
